Getting started

The Church also offers a marriage preparation course, designed to help couples reflect on their relationship and grow in the self-giving love that Christian marriage is built upon.

We kindly ask couples to make contact at least six months before their hoped-for wedding date so that there is plenty of time for preparation.

Couples from outside the parish are very welcome to celebrate their wedding with us – just let the parish office know, and we’ll be happy to help.

Planning your ceremony

Church Setting

You are welcome to arrange flowers and any simple decorations that suit your celebration. After the ceremony, we just ask that the church is left tidy and returned to its usual layout.

Music

Music plays a beautiful part in the wedding liturgy.
Hymns and pieces should be suitable for a church service; your priest can offer guidance if needed.
If you would like help arranging an organist or vocalist, we can put you in touch with the right people.

Photography

Photographers and videographers are welcome, provided they work quietly and respectfully. Flash and moving around the sanctuary should be avoided during the liturgy.

Rehearsal

A short rehearsal will take place in the days before the wedding. It’s helpful if the couple, readers, and anyone with a role in the ceremony can attend.

Other Considerations

Documents & Offerings

We’ll let you know which documents are needed (such as baptism certificates and marriage forms). These should be provided at least a month before the wedding.

There is no charge for receiving the sacraments. If you wish, a donation of around £100 to support the running of the parish is very much appreciated (and can be Gift Aided). It is also customary to offer £100 to the priest or deacon who celebrates the wedding.

Using the Grounds

You are welcome to take photos outside the church. We simply ask that the grounds are treated with care. Smoking and vaping are not permitted on church property.

A Final Word

Your wedding is a moment of profound joy – for you, your families, and the whole parish. We are honoured to accompany you as you prepare for this sacred commitment, and we pray that your married life will be filled with love, hope, and God’s gentle blessing.
