Becoming a catholic (RCIA)

A welcoming journey into the Catholic faith

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a gentle, supportive pathway for anyone who feels drawn to the Catholic Church. Whether you're exploring faith for the first time, returning after some time away, or simply curious about what Catholics believe, you are warmly invited to take the next step.

RCIA is a process that gradually introduces adults to the life, faith, and worship of the Catholic Church. Through conversation, reflection, and prayer, participants discover what it means to follow Christ and, if they choose, prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation.

There’s no pressure and no expectation – just space to learn, ask questions, and grow.

Who is welcome

Everyone is.

You might be:

  • Unbaptised and thinking about becoming Christian

  • Baptised in another Christian tradition and considering becoming Catholic

  • A baptised Catholic who never received Confirmation

  • Someone simply searching for deeper meaning or a renewed relationship with God

Wherever you are starting from, you will be met with warmth and understanding.

How we journey together

Our RCIA group meets weekly from September to April, guided by the parish priest and a small team who accompany you along the way.

Each session includes:

  • A short time of prayer

  • Reading and discussing Scripture

  • Learning about Catholic belief and practice

  • Time for questions

  • Practical guidance for living the faith day to day

It’s relaxed, friendly, and accessible, no prior knowledge needed.

Meetings:
Tuesdays at 7:00pm (September-April)
Held at St Kessog’s
